All elements on the site exist in a current version, along with historical versions and a pending version that is under edit but not yet visible on the normal visitor site. You can promote a pending version to make it the current, visible version. You can also roll back the current version to a prior version. The number of old versions available can be managed by hand or automatically restricted by the system.
